Earring Pave

1

These earrings are one example of large pave in graduated stones. This example shows the technique that I use for the layout of the stones directly in virgin metal. Also, in the following photos you can note the very sharp edge and the uniformity of the diamonds on the surface even as the piece curves.
The design and metalworkof these earrings were done by Douglas.

The photo shows one of the two parts of the earring. Here I used a European technique to cut the metal around the stones to create the prongs to hold the diamonds in place. This technique is used in high end jewelry for top quality. The technique allows the diamonds to capture more light and sparkle brightly.

The photo here demonstrates how the surface of the diamonds is perfectly level as the piece curves. The photo focuses in on the uniformity of the surface of the diamonds.

4

The photo here is an example of the sharpness and shine of the outer border of the earring. This creates the illumination of the stones. The stones touch the border. The makes it possible to see the stones more clearly.

5

This photo shows the prongs that support the diamonds. These prongs are precisely divided between each stone. The prong has a round form because this type of metal cut is typical of high end jewelry.

6

Here we see the initial layout of the earrings. This type of layout is an old style that has been replaced by 3D CAD today.
